“It is like we are constantly saying ‘NO!’. It is because we do not KNOW.”
The emergence of grey-fleets adds further shadows around the grey topic of what is and what is not permitted in the bunker supply chain.
Too many bunker sellers are rolling the dice and waiting to see if they will be able to keep passing go, keep collecting the £200. Or, in the case of bunker invoices, significantly higher amounts of money!
The MFA is hearing of increasing cases of management at bunker companies saying “no” and to their sales team that they cannot proceed with an enquiry; “it is not safe”.
But do we truly know why we are saying NO!? With a risk-based approach, it is possible to move along the giant game-board that we operate within. We can protect our assets; we can trade and collect our fees.
Talk to the MFA and its professional Partners for advice. We are listening and we are assisting. The MFA is committed to keeping our members up to date with Sanctions in this fast-changing environment. We have members who are updating their procedures and would be willing to share their progress with others. It is better to ask and find a way to say “yes…”
