There is a wave of industry news at the moment with lots of conversations which spark both excitement and genuine concern.
So, what should we be positive about? Well, a lot actually. People are collaborating and there is evidence of engagement and sharing of ideas and strategies. No one has ‘nailed it’ .. as quoted by a panellist at the IMO headline conference during London International Shipping Week. But in an industry that seems to have ‘thrived on minimum standards’, to quote another, then possibly, we have turned the metaphoric VLCC around in the river and we are talking about how to make changes for global standardisation.
Another long word, decarbonisation, is dominating the airtime and platforms. But what about all the other issues in Bunkering? What about the day-to-day critical operational problems and the ongoing significant financial impact caused by poor fuel quality, supply and non-payment? At the MFA, we have not forgotten about these. Quite the opposite. We can talk about what might happen, but better to talk about what is happening. So, we will be doing just that in the coming weeks and months with new Podcasts and Webinars. The focus will return to, Bunker debts and strategies for recovery of invoices; insurance policies and how to plan the cover you need for your bunker business and bunker price insurance cover. We have MFA Members lined up preparing to speak. We will share their thoughts and help to connect the membership with these industry specialists to provide you with new contacts and opportunities. Listen in and please feedback as always! Let us keep talking about what matters across the supply-chain.
