The MFA’s primary aim is to “Connect, Support and Promote” its members. We are committed to developing a unique global network that enables members to achieve their full potential through improved access to shared resources and more efficient collaboration.
When businesses launch new digital solutions through platforms and systems, achieving their full potential in isolation is unlikely. No matter how skilled or innovative a company or product designer may be, the shipping industry, historically slow to adapt and often cautious of digital transformation, can present significant barriers to growth.
One area within the MFA where we are seeing genuine collaboration and synergy is the Digital Online Business Focus Area. Here, we actively listen to member companies and their emerging products, recognising that many face similar challenges in engaging shipping companies and demonstrating the value of their solutions.
Collaboration is no longer optional. While terms like “collaboration” and “transparency” are frequently used, perhaps even overused, their importance remains fundamental. True collaboration drives standardisation, and through shared platforms, unlocks digital potential. This, in turn, enables another critical outcome: interoperability.
The pathway to decarbonisation requires coordinated action, driven by regulatory frameworks and industry expectations. Given that bunkering supply chains are inherently interconnected, the question becomes: how can companies collectively identify the most effective path from product development and testing through to sales and implementation, while clearly demonstrating value?
The answer begins with listening and sharing. The MFA Focus Area provides a platform for exactly this, bringing companies together to exchange insights, explore synergies, and better understand the landscape of products, specialised services, and unique capabilities. We are encouraged by the strong engagement from participants and look forward to continuing this collaborative journey. The growing level of engagement and connection within the MFA is already clear evidence of the value we provide as a catalyst for greater cooperation.
